Artist Statement

In the grand tradition of Italian Renaissance gardens, where musical fountains, fluttering bird automata, labyrinths, and grottos embodied the mystical pursuit of harmony between artifice and nature, I bring this otherworldly aesthetic into a contemporary form. My work draws on Renaissance ideals, integrating AI as a modern "magic-invoking machine" to unite art, nature, and technology. Mythical floral arrangements emerge from this fusion of classical methods and cutting-edge tools, blooming as visual riddles in verdant spaces where fantasy meets reality.

The fantastical machine-driven creatures of Renaissance ‘secret gardens,’ celebrated for their enigmatic charm and ability to awe, drive my exploration of harmonizing traditional art practices with contemporary digital tools. These early marvels reveal humanity's enduring desire to blend creative ingenuity with emerging technologies. By collaborating with AI as a modern counterpart to these spectacles, I transform organic forms with augmenting algorithms to create paintings that explore transcending visual experiences—both familiar and marvelously strange.

Inspired by old-world places of mystery and spectacle and by masters such as Raphael, Botticelli, and Fra Angelico, I design intimate botanical compositions that intertwine earthly beauty with divine wonder. Soft palettes and whimsical motifs shape my process as I develop intricate, lush works that layer meaning and invite discovery. The playful grotesques of the Vatican Loggias—Roman frescoes alive with mythical creatures and flourishing plant forms—inform how I construct structures through paint with unexpected colors, hybrid elements, and surreal details. Each work invites curious exploration, suggesting metamorphic hidden worlds beyond the surface.
