WORLD ART DAY 2024

FLORAL NOUVEAU | Virtual Exhibit
Exhibition April 15, 2024

THANK YOU TO LIMINA ARTS FOUNDATION FOR SPONSORING FLORAL NOUVEAU,
IN CELEBRATION OF WORLD ART DAY 2024!

The enchanting beauty of flowers has been a source of inspiration for artists throughout history. From the intricately detailed floral still lifes of the Dutch Golden Age to the abstract and contemporary representations in today’s art world, flowers have always held space in the imagination of artists.

In “FLORAL NOUVEAU” we show that flowers continue to inspire and captivate, offering themselves as muse and symbol, through which artists continue to explore diverse themes and create works that resonate with viewers on multiple levels. The ever-expanding flexibility of modern mediums allows for innovative and experimental explorations of floral themes in a variety of contexts. We are excited to present current works in various media, traditional and avant-garde, which display the ongoing fascination with flowers in art and showcase the diverse interpretations of flowers being created by today’s artists.

The IAA/USA’s theme for WORLD ART DAY 2024 is “A GARDEN OF EXPRESSION: Cultivating Community through Art”. In unity with and in ardent support of IAA/USA and World Art Day, Limina Arts Foundation is pleased present “FLORAL NOUVEAU”.

'Fresh Paint' Curated by Margaret Winslow, Curator of Contemporary Art, Delaware Art Museum

ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

Create! Magazine is thrilled to share our latest exhibition, 'Fresh Paint," juried by Margaret Winslow of the Delaware Art Museum.

In this virtual show, we invite you to discover the endless possibilities of this timeless medium through the eyes and hands of 30 contemporary artists. Painting is more than just pigment on canvas; it's a transformative journey of self-expression and innovation. Join us and discover incredible contemporary artists in this show.

EXHIBITION ESSAY

Essay by Christina Nafziger

Painting is not a monolith; it is a medium that can be used in countless ways, which is one of the reasons it has stood the test of time. It moves across genre, from abstraction to realism to expressionism; and across subject matter, from figurative to landscape to the inner workings of our psyche. Paint transforms. It can be mixed with other mediums, used on two-dimensional and three-dimensional surfaces, and, when rendered in a certain way, can create a window into a world beyond our imagination. There is a reason artists return to painting again and again—the possibilities are truly endless.

In “Fresh Paint,” 30 contemporary artists delve into the medium of painting in its broadest sense. Each piece is strikingly different than the next, revealing to us the nuanced and complex ways painting can change depending on who is holding the brush. Sometimes by bringing together similar artworks (in this case, similar in media only), their differences are pulled forth, drawn out in ways that are unique to each artist. In the exhibition, you’ll find non-representational works that highlight the medium through impasto brushwork, color-field paintings that show off paint’s saturated hues, rich landscapes that display the artists’ skills in painting, and so much more!

Juniper Rag Unbound Art Exhibit
Exhibition dates: Jan 01 - 27, 2024

21 CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS

Juniper Rag is thrilled to present our latest virtual exhibition. For this collection, viewers are encouraged to discover new contemporary artists and their art, selected for risk-taking, skill and vulnerability in the evolution of creating work and in the course of their career. The landscape in the art world is changing rapidly and we want to demonstrate and inspire, featuring artists that are incorporating new ideas into your own work. There is an excitement in art making when something new happens. This exhibition is about the freedom of experimentation, the inclusion of new concepts in art making and the ability to push your personal boundaries as an artist.

Art-making extends far past what the eye sees in two or three dimensions. When artists record themselves, intrinsically, a magical exchange is made between the creator and the viewer. A part of their inner persona is presented publicly for others to view, discuss and critique in ways that leave them vulnerable. This gift of art is a gift from the self to us and in creating this work, we view artists pushing their own personal limits of creativity.

We celebrate the use of new materials, processes, mediums, the use of new technology and the forging onward in the practice of art, no matter where it takes them. As viewers, we should be reminded that new ideas are not always adopted immediately and that in time, some of these ideas may be the visionary paths that many artists and collectors with respect and follow. Taking risks, changing your process, experimentation and hell, quitting your day job to make art—all should be rewarded. We are proud to present this collection of talented and inspiring contemporary artists.

Fine Art Auction
Artists for Lahaina Fine Art Auction
Colleen Hoffenbacker’s ”Rhododendron”(sold)

ABOUT THE AUCTION

The Lahaina Fire on August 8th was the deadliest in modern American history. The fire burned though 80% of the town and left its surviving residents facing a deeply uncertain future.

Lahaina was once the capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii and it is known for its rich culture & arts community. The town is beloved by the thousands of artists who have found both welcome and inspiration there.

In support of Lahaina’s efforts to rebuild, we are organizing an auction of original artwork by artists from all over the world.

All auction proceeds will go to the Maui Pono Foundation, an organization founded by Lahaina families to help their many displaced neighbors recover after the fire. In addition to funding direct relief, the Maui Pono Foundation has generously committed to support efforts to enable artists in West Maui to play a key role in restoring the community they love.

Emergence | Virtual Exhibit

Regen 1.0.2, 2023, Oil on aluminum, 30 x 30 cm; 12 x 12 in (right)

Exhibition dates: June 24 - July 31, 2023

ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

In this exhibition, we’re celebrating the true definition of emergence - a process of coming into being. For many artists, the creative practice provides a space for new ideas and discoveries to surface, grow, and materialize. Whether it be a painting, sculpture, photograph, or installation, art has the innate ability to turn the metaphysical into the physical. This virtual exhibit is a culmination of representational, figurative, abstract, and conceptual work.

NOTE FROM THE CURATOR

Welcome to the Emergence exhibition, which was such a delight to curate.

Drawing inspiration from nature, art history, and spiritual references, each piece in this collection embodies the essence of new beginnings. From colorful abstract paintings to intricate artworks and sensual sculptures, every work of art tells a unique story of Emergence.

Within this exhibition, each work captures the essence of emergence with vibrant colors and thoughtful details, bringing to life the beauty of new growth and transformation.

Another aspect I love about this collection is that many of the pieces are made of  recycled materials, which symbolizes the importance of sustainability and the cycle of life. These creative artists have skillfully crafted pieces to represent the interconnectedness of all living things, reminding us of the importance of caring for our planet and each other.

Overall, this collection is a celebration of the beauty of new life and the infinite possibilities that come with new beginnings.

I invite you to explore this collection and discover the magic of Emergence for yourself.
