As part of this long‑running Western regional exhibition, Colleen Hoffenbacker presents contemporary painting within a showcase known for bringing together museum‑quality artwork, accomplished artists, and dedicated collectors. Each year, the Sears Invitational draws well over a thousand submissions from across the region, resulting in a highly selective exhibition that reflects the depth and diversity of contemporary artistic practice. The program has become a significant annual event on the Utah Tech University campus, offering a dynamic survey of work across a wide range of styles and media.
Curated by Museum Director James Peck, PhD, Utah Tech University and the Sears Art Museum host the prestigious 39th Invitational Art Show and Gala, an annual program that continues to draw both established and emerging artists from across the Western region.

ABOUT Sears Art Museum
The Robert N. and Peggy Sears Art Museum, located in the Delores Doré Eccles Fine Arts Center on the Utah Tech University campus, presents a wide range of exhibitions. In addition to rotating exhibits, the University maintains and exhibits a significant permanent art collection. The premier event of the Sears Art Museum is the annual Sears Invitational Art Show, which runs mid-February through the end of March. This popular regional event, which serves as the museum’s only fundraiser, annually features art from the top contemporary artists. A must-see St. George tradition.
